A Physics Teacher Begs For His Subject Back

An Open Letter to the AQA Board and the Department of Education—complaining about the state of secondary-school physics today.

At least when I did GCSE Physics a few years ago the focus was still on actual science, rather than meaningless debate about the place of science in today’s society. Of course, that could be because the teacher was rather set in his ways (and bore no resemblance to Ziggy Stardust whatsover—honest).

It does, however, sound similar to the state of IT, which (up to GCSE level, anyway—I didn’t bother at A-Level) was basically about the uses of technology and whatnot, with no actual technical ability required (beyond being able to use MS Word without printing half-a-dozen copies of everything).
