Failed Weekend

So, this weekend I’ve had four and a half days off (Thursday lunchtime onwards) and, given my usual lack of planning, didn’t have anything in particular lined up when I got home from work on Thursday. Well, other than fix my bike, which had been sitting in the yard for two weeks (the first waiting for me to get around to getting new tyres, the second waiting for me to find the well-hidden puncture). Incidentally, I did that, so that probably makes this a successful weekend.

Anyway. Friday was a waste. Saturday morning Dan texted and suggested a Dartmoor trip, so Gem drove us and Gareth (plus her sister and sister’s dog) up near Sheepstor. We wandered around a bit, but failed to find any letterboxes, then drove out past Princetown to have a barbecue. Then it started hailing. Seriously. So we went back to Plymouth, where it was actually quite nice, and had the barbecue in the back yard, then watched some Red Dwarf.

On Sunday, Gem, Dan, and I went up to Bodmin Moor — walked from Minions up around Cheesewring for a couple of hours, and this time I actually remembered my camera. Haven’t actually looked at the pictures yet, though, so I don’t know if any turned out particularly well.

Today I did bugger-all again; the nice (apart from the hail) weather apparently has given up, so going out wasn’t really tempting. Back to work tomorrow; at least it won’t take half an hour to get there or back now.

Dartmoor

On Saturday afternoon Gem and I drove up to Dartmoor and wandered around near Down Tor; Dan, Chris Morris, Gareth, and Carl joined us later and we drove across to Hexworthy Bridge for a barbecue. We waded around in the Dart a bit, played a game of frisbee by and/or in the river, then had the barbecue on a sandbank in the middle of the river.

I took something like a hundred and fifty photos over the course of the day; not all of them are much good, since quite a few were me experimenting with macro mode, but plenty will be uploaded to Flickr. Also, if I’m feeling generous, to Facebook.

Bleepload

As you may or may not know, last Wednesday Rich and Chris organised an electronic music “thing” at the Students’ Union. Now, electronic music isn’t really my thing, for the most part, but I went along and took my camera, so photos from the event are available on flickr, in the BleepLoad set. There may be a few more in the near future.

Flickering

I’ve opened up a Flickr account for myself. I’ve posted a few photos; hopefully it’ll be incentive for me to take more.

All photos on there are Creative Commons “Attribution”-licenced. CC manages to make a huge deal about the licence which in my case boils down to “do what you like, just don’t claim you took the photo”…

Panorama image

Here’s a panorama shot of Plymouth Sound from Mt. Edgecumbe; I took the component photos in the summer when I was over there with Lisa, and I’ve only just gotten around to joining them up with hugin. Not bad for a first attempt, I think.

photoblog

I’ve started a photoblog (well, it was intended to be a gallery, but IkiWiki makes this much easier…). It’s at ?photos. There’s not all that much there at the moment (only a few sunset photos that most people who know me have seen), but more will come soon.

There’s an RSS feed; I could merge it into this one, but I won’t, since it’ll not really play well with, for example, Planet TermiSoc.
